Evelyn Okey

Evelyn Irene Okey age 92, went home to the Lord on Monday, February 8, 2021. She was born on June 7, 1928 in Canton, Ohio, daughter of the late Clarence and Ruby (Schwarm) Limbacher. Evelyn graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946. She worked at Diebold briefly before employment at General Electric Capital for 21 years, retiring in 1989. She was a devout lifetime member of the First Church of the Resurrection in Canton and served on the Inasmuch Food and Clothing Ministry, as well as other various volunteer activities. She was honored to receive the Mother of the Year Award at the church in 2012.

Evelyn is survived by her loving husband, Edward J. Okey, whom she married in 1949. She is also survived by their four loving children: Vivian (Arthur) Snyder, James (Machelle) Okey, Diane Krocker, and Charlotte (Duane) Souers. Her grandchildren are Carrie (Michael) Metzger, Christina Chambers, Steven J. Okey, Naomi (Dana) Smith, Dominic Watson, Jennifer (Scott) McLaughlin, Bradford (Lisa) Krocker, Lindsay (David) Montemayor, Ryan (Laura) Souers, Adam (Alia) Souers, Jason (Laura) Souers. Evelyn and Ed are blessed with 19 great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roger Limbacher; and sons-in-law, Louis E. Chambers and Daniel Krocker. She enjoyed monthly card club with lifelong friends, reading biographies, crocheting blankets for others, spending time with family and grandchildren. Evelyn was a philanthropist, donating to many worthy causes.
